The U.S. Army designated Whitley County JROTC as an "Honor Unit with Distinction" in 2018. This rating is reserved for the top 5% of programs across the nation. Our program has maintained this rating since 1993.
We offer JROTC classes to freshmen through seniors during 2nd, 3rd, and 4th period with our battalion staff required to be in 1st period. 8th graders are permitted to take jrotc during their flex period. cadets receive a pe credit for jrotc as well. We offer several afterschool team activities on a voluntary basis on monday, tuesday, wednesday, and thursday from 3:10 to 4:45. The program averages over 150 students and maintains two full time JROTC instructors.
